NYX Love in Paris: Be Our Guest Maurice

Okay, here is a nod to all of you Beauty and the Beast fans! Fun fact..."Be Our Guest" was originally written to be sung to Maurice when he enters the castle, but Belle got the special treatment instead.

Now that you know this, don't you feel like you have to have this palette? I did! Go NYX!

This is a NYX Love in Paris palette called Be Our Guest Maurice and features 9 shadows, mostly purples and smokey shades. It retails for $10 at Ulta.

I can't get over the cuteness of these palettes. The colors, the names, the cute bow closure. Win!

Shade 1: Dark purple with red glitter
Shade 2: Pink shimmer, rose tone
Shade 3: Pink toned lilac shimmer with silver glitter
Shade 4: True white shimmer
Shade 5: Violet shimmer
Shade 6: Gunmetal shimmer
Shade 7: Gold/rose shimmer
Shade 8: Warm brown shimmer
Shade 9: Matte black

Here are all the colors swatched basically in order on my hand, the last three are on the top and bottom horizontally. Most are pretty opaque and some are better than others, but all around, this is a good palette for a purple smokey eye. I love it!

What NYX palettes have you tried? Do you love Beauty and the Beast?

Franken Tuesday: "Wotcher!"

Another one of my ten franken creations! This one is inspired by Nymphadora Tonks from Harry Potter

This is one of my favorite polishes!

This polish has very fine silver glitter, very fine purple glitter, a tiny bit of black glitter and large pink square glitter. All the colors of Tonks...probably a bit too girly for her but I like it!

It is really named "Wotcher" because she is always running around saying it in the films. And Natalia Tena is my spirit animal, so I can feel like her when I wear this.

This is two coats of the glitter over my new pink Finger Paints polish that I received in this months' Nail Art Society package. I just joined this monthly service and so far I am intrigued. Here is what I got for $10...

Full size polish, dotting tool, filing board, nail art lace, nail art chain in gold, and little gold 'love' embellishments. Obviously the theme was Valentine's Day but it arrived the 15th...so a little late on that...

What do you think of this weeks' polish? Are you a member of Nail Art Society?

Velvet Voyeur

I kinda have a thing for nail polish names. Don't we all? I couldn't NOT buy this polish, I just thought they name was so sexy haha.

Introducing my pick for Fall 2012's Sexiest Polish: Essie's Velvet Voyeur

A deep reddish purple that looks black in some lights is the perfect remix to a black creme. It is sexy and femme fatale while also being unexpected.

I picked up this Essie from Ulta for around $8. Essie polishes are great, and I love the brush. I got a full 6 days of wear from this polish. (2 coats)

Some not so discerning eyes (my brother) thought my polish was black...but I can tell, can't you??

Final Thoughts: My pick for vampiest polish this winter!

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 9/10
Packaging: 9/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10
Total: 45/50= A- = Happy Panda!

I love vampy nails, do you?

Chic Reloaded

I know my blog has been my polish lately, but since I have started graduate school as of today, polish posts are easy to fit in my schedule for the time being!

And besides, there is a lot of buzz about Essence polishes, and I found a shade that has gotten a lot of love, but not nearly enough yet!

This is Essence 'Chic Reloaded' and retails for $1.99. I love Essence as a brand, they are affordable and good quality. The nail polish bottles have had a massive make-over, turning from little cylinders to these hourglass bottles with colored tops. I love it -- now you can spot them easily in your stash!

This is such a fun color for fall. It is a dark purple/teal duochrome and the shift is fairly noticeable, especially in sunlight. The new brushes on these are kind of awful...they remind me of the Sally Hansen salon ones...they are big and rounded and are supposed to cover the whole nail in one sweep...but I have thin nail beds which equals mess!

So pretty! It also has a bit of a shimmer to it! The formula is nice, not too thick or thin and in two coats it has the desired effect. No chips after a few days, but tip wear (seen here) after three days. Not bad, not good.

Final Thoughts: Affordable, unique duochrome!

Price: 10/10
Staying Power: 7/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 46/50 = A- = Happy Panda!

Do you love this color? I really do think it is "Chic Reloaded" :)

Clinique Summer Lips!

Hey Pandas!

I have two clinique products to satisfy a need for a put together summer lip!

Behold Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Mystic and Long Last lipstick in Bamboo Pink.

Mystic is a bluish purple with shimmer and retails for $15. Bamboo Pink is a brownish/nude/pink and also retails for $15. They go great together and when worn as a pair give me 7 hours of glossy goodness.

Mystic is on the left. You can see the pretty blue shimmer! Bamboo Pink gives moderate coverage for a fresh look and is just the right mix of pink and nude.

Aren't they pretty together? My camera ran out of memory before I could snap the lip shots, but I still think their beauty shows here.

Final Thoughts: Clinique is always reliable, and these are fun colors from their permanent line. The SPF is nice too!

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 10/10
Packaging: 7/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 10/10

Total: 45/50 = A = Happy Panda!

What are your feeling on Clinique? They've gone a bit under the radar lately, which is sad.

Oui Oui!

Bonjour readers!

I am in a very French mood today, and it has a lot to do with my new manicure color! I have too many bottles of polish to even count, but when I find a unique color (which is hard to do now that my collection is so large) I have to snap it up!

Enter ORLY's "Oui"

This polish caught my eye because of the swirling, sparkly, color-changing goodness housed in those cute little bottles. *sidenote: ORLY has the best bottle shape in my opinion*.

In different lights, it appears purple, goldish, bronzy, and even plumb, all at the same time! Gorgeous.

It is really hard to capture how perfect this color is, but it does make me say "Oui! I need more!"

This is a great everyday color. Dark nails are always in style, and the shimmer and color shift of this update it. For $8, say yes to "Oui" too!

Final Thoughts:

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 9/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 10/10

Total: 48/50 = A  = Pandamonium!

What are your favorite sparkly, purple polishes?
