- This boasts light to medium coverage and broad spectrum SPF 30.
- Dim the Lights is described as a "warm yellow shade for light skin tones"
- Honestly, the fairest shade Fair Game would probably suit me better, but samples only came in a few shades. I have neutral undertones but this was still a decent match.
- The price is $34 and this is formulated with tamarind, Vitamin C, and marine algae extracts to give skin 8 hours of moisturized wear.
As you can see, it pulls a bit yellow on my skin. bareMinerals suggests using only a pearl size amount, like what you see above, but I used about 7 times that to see any coverage.
The dewy, slightly yellow patch in the picture above is the foundation blended into my skin. This is a dewy finish formula.
This is about a third of my tiny sample tube on my face, and I was still a bit red on my nose and it did not cover my acne on my chin.
But I can't complain much, as it is specifically stated this gives light to medium coverage. Emphasis on LIGHT. It was easy breezy to wear, didn't oxidize, lasted about 7 hours, so overall, pretty close to the claim, and moisturized my skin. My chin and nose got a bit oily throughout the day, but blotting or powder takes care of that.
Likes:
- The SPF!
- I love the Buxom/bareMinerals brand and trust it won't break me out (and it didn't)
- The added moisture
- The dewy glow
Dislikes:
- I still felt uncomfortable with the coverage
- Felt it was a bit too yellow on my skin
Overall: I like this to an awesome tinted moisturizer with SPF, not really a foundation. Maybe almost like a U.S. CC Cream for me. Not much coverage but great skincare benefits, moisture, and a dewy glow. This will be a nice foundation for the weekends, but it is a bit too much moisture and not enough coverage for school and work. But if you have dehydrated skin and not many blemishes, give this a go!
I really love this series your doing!! I do like foundations with more coverage too, but this one might be good underwear or mixed with another foundation?
ReplyDeleteLOL totally meant underneath another foundation
DeleteHaha! I know what you meant! I've tried it as a base under bareMinerals original minerals foundation (from the first post in this series) which works because I use less of both products.
DeleteI think this looks awesome on you! I like this on you more than foundation (if you don't mind me saying that). It's sorta a compliment b/c your natural complexion is fine enough to wear sheerer makeup. Yeah it does look a bit sheer, but I like that natural look. I suppose you can put concealer on red/trouble spots and then buff it all out w/ this. Since its dewy and has SPF you don't even need moisturizer for the day-time. :) I'm going in for my extraction surgery Monday and missing a whole week of classes. Wish me luck! I'm so nervous, but excited to stop feeling the way I'm feeling right now.
ReplyDeleteAww you are too sweet! Trust me, I don't mind you saying it! I feel I am my own biggest critic when it comes to my skin and I don't always see the true beauty in it. So thank you. I will definitely play around with this more with some concealer and I am hoping to get confident enough to wear a sheerer foundation daily! And good luck! I will be thinking good thoughts for you! It will be over in a blink of an eye and then you get to be pampered!
DeleteI am looking for something super light and dewy - maybe I should give this a shot! Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteThis definitely has the dew factor in spades! If you are planning on making a Sephora order soon, you can get a sample online!
DeleteInteresting! I've heard so much about this, but yeah it does look like just a CC cream and I have quite a few over here haha!
ReplyDeleteI personally am not the biggest fan of CC creams, but maybe one day I will magically be really into them!
Deletei was thinking that too--looks like a cc cream! glad you tried it and shared with us :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Elle! Definitely leaning towards a CC cream formula for sure!
Deleteit looks awesome on you dear :) xx
