Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss

I am forever hunting for matte things! Whether it be polish, eyeshadow, or in this case--lipstick--I am always searching for the perfect fit!

Will Rimmel's new Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss be a winner?

This shade, simply called 103 is a medium pink with a slight peachy/dusty pull. It is supposed to have a totally matte formula but there is a bit of creaminess before it dries down. Retails for $4.99 at Ulta, Target, and drugstores and is housed in a pretty red bullet with Kate's iconic signature. 4 hours of good wear, no flaking, and feels feather light on the lips. However, there is a very strong, lingering floral mixed with candy smell that is really off-putting.

I really do love the packaging. It is a pretty tube that will get noticed when you pull it out to apply.

This lipstick is for any fans of Rimmel, Kate Moss, and matte lipsticks, pretty much in that order. If you are looking for a way to ease into matte's, this is a nice baby step because it is so comfortable and user friendly. Not very dramatic, and very smelly...so be warned!

I love the way it looks on my lips, and has gone strong for 4 hours...but the smell is still there and is killing my sensitive nose! Ugh, so sad!

This would have been my new Holy Grail matte lipstick if it weren't for the smell. I am so disappointed. I urge you to check them out for yourself! They really are worth it besides the scent.

Price: 10/10

Performance: 10/10

Color/Wearability: 7/10 (smell makes it hard to keep on for me)

Packaging: 10/10

Overall Quality: 9/10

Total: 46/50 = A- = Happy Panda

Have you tried the new matte version of the original? Thoughts?

Matte + Enchanted Fairy

Hey loves!

I have been searching high and low for a matte top coat. I stumbled upon the last NYC one at Target a few days ago and thanked the nail polish goddesses. I decided to try it out over one of my new Essence polishes.

Here is my little guinea pig polish - Essence 'Enchanted Fairy' which is a pale lilac with silver shimmer. It retails at Ulta for $.99.

Here it is right before the matte topcoat. Pretty huh? I like that is goes with the cool tones of my skin.

And here I am holding NYC 'Matte Me Crazy' topcoat which retails for $1.99. Doesn't this polish look so cool and classy all matte? It was fun to watch it change right before my eyes.

I love it! I guess I am hopping on the matte-train a little late, but better than never!

You already know that I love Essence polishes to death, so I will only be reviewing the matte coat here.

Final Thoughts: A cheap way to get into the matte trend. I love that the bottle is small enough for travel.

Price: 10/10
Staying Power: 9/10
Packaging: 8/10
Color/Wearability: N/A
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 36/40 = A- = Pleased Panda!

Tell me what polishes you love to matte!!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Matte is a great look. Keeping shine at bay is my number one priority during the summer, so I decided to give Rimmel London's Stay Matte Pressed Powder a try.

For $7, this is a cheap choice for a finishing/setting/mattifying powder. It is also supposed to minimize the appearance of pores.

This is a pretty large pan. It is very lightweight which I adore. I hate the feeling of something overly powdery. Just make sure to buff this in well and you will see a matte, flawless canvas.

This particular hue, Buff Beige, matches my fair skin so well that it is undetectable on my skin, so this is the best swatch of the actual color I can provide. This lasts half the day before needing a touch up -- but keep in mind I have very oily skin. It does minimize pores and looks natural.

Final Thoughts: A decent choice for a finishing powder, especially for this hot summer!

Price: 9/10
Staying Power: 7/10
Packaging: 7/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 42/50 = B = Pleased Panda

Stay Shine Free this Summer

Hello there!

So, it is officially Summer now, according to the calendar. I used to always use those blotting papers, you know the little blue ones? I stopped for some reason. I think mostly because they did nothing for me.

I decided to give blotting papers a try again. Enter NYX matte blotting papers, 50 sheets for $5. That is a little steep for me. It is just paper right? Wrong. Miracle workers in a little slim case.

I like sticking with NYX because I know they are cruelty free amidst all of this Urban Decay/MAC etc nonsense. And they tell me to be sexy. Okay NYX. With your miracle papers I can be.

Seriously though, these sop up oil and leave you totally matte for hours. And unlike other ones, they do not leave a weird residue or interrupt your make up. These are coming to Hawaii with me.

Final Thoughts: Only get if you are extremely oily, or are obsessive with touching up. Otherwise they will be a waste. If you have to put on extra moisturizer in the summer, then these aren't for you. But if you are an oil slick like me by noon -- run, don't walk.

Do you use blotting sheets? Tried these? I want to know!
