And the Legend Comes to an End...

Hey lovelies!

Well, today marks my last bit about the little Essence collection I've been reviewing. I am wrapping it up with an interesting lipstick.

This is the 'Legends of the Sky' lipstick in 02 Flying Higher. It is a creamy white base with purple and pink shimmer. It retails for $1.99. When I saw it at the store, my mind went "White lipstick? You know this is going to look gross right Margo? Oh well" and I bought it anyway.
The packaging is gorgeous. It comes in a little copper bullet and it honestly looks like a gun shell casing. I am sure there is a simpler way to describe that, but that will have to do.

This was so hard to photograph! It looks like concealer on my arm. I was not impressed right away.

See what it looks like on my lips after the break...

Um...yeah. About that. I think Essence had good intentions with this lipstick. It could be a shimmery, highlighty awesome stick of awesome. But instead, it clumps and settles into all of my dry bits and makes me look goopy.

This may work for you if you want to spend a half hour scrubbing all of the flakies off of your lips, but I do not have time for a colorless high-maintenance lip stick.

Final Thoughts:

Price: 10/10
Staying Power: 6/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 2/10
Quality/Branding: 7/10

Total: 35 = C = Panda is Meh.

Would you give this a go? The collection has a bronze lipstick that in hind-sight I should have gotten instead, but this oddball color had me wondering!

And the Legend Continues...

Hey again!

Since I have already introduced you to the 'Legends of the Sky' palette by Essence, I wanted you to know that there is more to this trendy collection. The collection includes nail polishes, blushes, lipsticks, and eyeshadow pencils. They are all packaged in the same sleek bronze and khaki casings and make for a fun launch for the brand.

The 'Legends of the Sky' liner and shadow stick in "Like Leo's Pilot Jacket" is one of my favorite pieces in the collection.

The packaging is really sleek and is easily portable for a quick eye look on the go...and even more suitably, while traveling. Haha :) This retails for $2.99 and can be found at Ulta.

One end features a dark khaki twist up eyeliner.

The other end features a flat and tapered eye shadow stick. It is in the same dark khaki green color.

See the swatches after the break!

It goes on smoothly but the shadow seems to cake on itself a little, producing a thick layer which can cause creasing on the lid if you don't take the time to blend it out. Not a huge problem though. The liner is really creamy and shimmery.

With a flash, you can see that in brighter light the shadow and liner have a bronzey overtone. Interesting and unique.

The more coppery side of the duo's spectrum can be seen here on my lid. This is the shadow stick blended out as a wash of color. Easy and pretty.

This picture shows both products, the stick on the lid and the eye liner on my lower lashline. It appears more green and true-to-life here. This product is really fun!

Final Thoughts:

Price: 10/10
Staying Power: 8/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 47/50 = A = Pandamonium!

What do you think? Love it or leave shadow sticks? Do you find two products at your disposal useful?

Essence "Legends of the Sky" eyeshadow palette

Hello lovely readers!

Today marks an exciting day for this blog! I am introducing a new format to the way I do reviews of products as well as watermarks and better picture quality! Yay for summer!

So to start this epic-ness, I introduce to you Essence's 'Legends of the Sky' palette.

They have an entire collection which is available at Ulta and Shoppers Drug Mart. Essence's website calls "Legends" their trend collection for 2012.

For $3.99 this palette comes with 8 small eyeshadows and a baby dual ended brush. Not a bad bargain considering I've had good experiences with this brand.

The palette is called "From Zero to Hero" which is such a cute name! Unfortunately, the individual eye shadows aren't named. Essence does not test on animals, but this palette does contain Carmine, so stay away if you so choose.

The first two shadows (top left of palette) are a smoky gray and a sparkly taupe. Very much influenced by aviation, and I love how this palette has a distinctly 40's, military vibe.

They both have decent color payoff and make wonderful crease colors.

The next two color (top right) are a camo green and a dark sparkly brown. Very on trend.

The green is very pigmented and makes a nice wash of color for an updated smoky eye. The brown is nothing special, but a good staple.
The next shadows (bottom left of palette) are an icy sky blue and a shimmery white. Sky and cloud colors!

These both make great highlighters on the browbone or inner corner.

Last but not least (bottom right) are a coral and a rose color. They stick out in this palette and I am not sure how they go with the theme. But they are beautiful!

They are very pigmented and smooth on the skin!

And to show you just how beautiful these shadows can look on...I did a quick eye look!

I use the dark brown and green colors to make a wash on my eyes, then used the coral as a highlight and along my lower lashline.

I blended the colors out softly, but you can wear them wet for more intensity.

Final Thoughts:

Price: 10/10
Staying Power: 8/10
Packaging: 9/10
Color/Wearability: 9/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 45/50  = A = Pandamonium!!

Hope you enjoy the new set-up and the look. Will you be picking up this Essence palette?
