NOTD: Minnie Mouse!

Hey Pandas!

I am a big Disney person, and the other day my mom and I were taking one of her friends to Disneyland to get her pass. Yay! Of course, I had to do my nails for the occasion!

Now, this is one of my first attempts at full-on nail art, so be gentle! Haha. Of course, this look was inspired by Minnie Mouse and her classic black, red, and white colors.

On my middle finger I painted a half circle and used a dotting tool for the ears. I then painted a red bow on top. The rest of my nails are either white, black, or red with contrasting dots. My thumb has a red bow on it. Simple but cute!

Needless to say we had a lot of fun that day, even though the park was crowded. I didn't see Minnie, but I did see her hubby!

These are the colors I used for this mani: O.P.I Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, ORLY Liquid Vinyl, and Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I also used a dotting tool and freehanded the rest.

Love or Hate? Do you love Disneyland as much as I do? Have you ever done Disney inspired nail art?

ORLY Flicker: Perfect October Orange

Hey everyone!!

Sorry for my long absence! I have been really busy settling down in my grad school life (phew!) but I am back now and ready to blog with some fun products for Fall and Winter. Yay!

As you can probably tell, I am big on nail polish, and I do not have many orange polishes in my current collection.

Orly recently released a Fall collection and I decided to add the pretty red-orange 'Flicker' to my stash for $8.

This is a shiny, metallic, slightly duochrome polish that looks just like a flickering flame!

Two coats and this baby has a lot of depth and looks great for Halloween time!

This lasted about 5 days with minor tip wear and looks good as a base for black glitter as well!

Overall Thoughts: A great wearable orange just in time for All-Hallows-Eve!

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 8.5/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 45.5/50 = A- = Happy Panda!

Do you guys have any of the other ORLY Fall polishes? I thought they were all so pretty!

ORLY Cosmic FX French Manicure Kit

Nail post! Yay!

I recently fell in love with these cute little sets by ORLY:

I found this at Ulta, for $15 you get three small sized ORLY polishes and french manicure and chevron nail guides. I think it is a fun idea to package the hottest kind of nail art.

You get forty of the nail strips, 20 french and 20 chevron -- enough for four manis. But I know you can buy replacements at any beauty supply store or just use tape for the chevrons.

The three bottles are decently sized. You get a black 'Liquid Vinyl' which is what my nails are painted with there. A Top2Bottom base and top coat, and 'Space Cadet' which a cool purple/green duochrome shimmer.

See the process after the jump!

Here are my nails painted with two coats of 'Liquid Vinyl'. This is an amazing black polish by itself!

Here are my nails with the chevron guides. I painted the top part with 'Space Cadet'. The strips are a little hard to handle. Do one hand at a time. It will take longer but be less messy.

And here are the final results! Looks like the box right? This was fun and easy. And it gave me really nice looking nails.

I'm not a huge fan of the top coat because it left little dimples. So I'll just use Seche next time. No biggie. Still worth it for the kit and the other two polishes.

Final Thoughts: These came in other color combos as well. If you like this look, seriously check these out! ORLY makes great polish.

Price: 9/10
Staying Power: 9/10
Packaging: 8/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 10/10

Total: 46/50 = A = Pandamonium!

You can also do half moons with the french guards! What is your fave type of nail art right now?

My Nail Stash!!

This is just a fluffy fun post about my stash. I recently got some nail wheels from Sally Beauty and decided to swatch all my polishes by brand for easier polishing. Now I can just pick off the color wheel and grab corresponding polish. Easy.

Enjoy gratuitous polish pictures!

All of my new nail wheels!
Final Count: 113 polishes from Essie, Essence, Sally Hansen, Butter London, Hard Candy, ORLY, Zoya, CG, Revlon, OPI, Nicole, Julep, Deborah Lippmann, Wet n Wild, l'Oreal, Milani, Del Sol, NYC, Sephora, Ulta, Pixel, and some Indies.

Phew!

This isn't counting all of my tools, base coats, top coats, etc.

How many polishes are in your stash??

Grave Mistake

Hey my wonderful PrettyPanda readers!

Sorry I have been MIA. My laptop crashed last week...had to return it to factory settings, and I just got things up and running again. Haven't re-installed Photoshop yet, so the pics today will not be great and they won't be labeled -- but hey, it is something!

Reds are classic. They (in my humble opinion) are year-round. And today I bring you a red perfect for if you are channeling your inner sailor pin-up girl. Or if you are just like me, and think it is totally okay to wear vampy red in June.

"Grave Mistake" is from the new "Dark Shadows" collection ORLY recently put out to coincide with the Burton/Depp flick.

This is a dark, vampy, burgundy cream. It reminds me of a good wine. Or blood. Tomatoe Tamahto.

This is two coats, but I think it needs three. It is uncharacteristically streaky, and if you apply just one coat...it looks like blood. Gross, coagulating blood. Great for Halloween I am sure. But stick to multiple coats for a classic look.

I think this color is also a great staple to have. It goes nicely with pale skin, but would look so lovely on darker skin tones as well. I also think this can transition easily to fall.

 This retails for $8.

I'll spare you that grading, because I recommend it and I am tired and want to sleep. Haha.

Any other classic reds your recommend?

xoxo PrettyPanda

Orly 'Star Spangled'

Hey guys!

I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. I did! It is Monday, so I thought I would post about a fun nail polish I wore over the weekend. Nail polish always makes a day better, am I right?

I tried to take the picture a little out of focus so you could see the pretty sparkles more. This is Orly's 'Star Spangled' which is a vibrant red with lots of depth and red shimmer. So pretty!

I love the result on my nails. With two coats, it is a quick updated version of a classic red. It retails for $8 and is a great staple. I love Orly because they last and last. I can wear their polishes up to 8 days. But I don't often, because I am fickle.

Final Thoughts: If you are a nail polish junkie like myself, you probably have more than a few dupes for this. But it is so pretty and a solid stand-by.

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 10/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability 9/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10

Total: 46/50 = A = Pandamonium!

What is the nail color your are currently rocking? Happy Monday!

Oui Oui!

Bonjour readers!

I am in a very French mood today, and it has a lot to do with my new manicure color! I have too many bottles of polish to even count, but when I find a unique color (which is hard to do now that my collection is so large) I have to snap it up!

Enter ORLY's "Oui"

This polish caught my eye because of the swirling, sparkly, color-changing goodness housed in those cute little bottles. *sidenote: ORLY has the best bottle shape in my opinion*.

In different lights, it appears purple, goldish, bronzy, and even plumb, all at the same time! Gorgeous.

It is really hard to capture how perfect this color is, but it does make me say "Oui! I need more!"

This is a great everyday color. Dark nails are always in style, and the shimmer and color shift of this update it. For $8, say yes to "Oui" too!

Final Thoughts:

Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 9/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 10/10

Total: 48/50 = A  = Pandamonium!

What are your favorite sparkly, purple polishes?
