Zoya Emme and Happi: Swatches and Review

Zoya polishes are wonderful, but I hardly ever buy them...

I don't know what it is, I love the formula and the colors, but they always fall under my radar in favor of prettier and flashier things. I will never make that mistake again! After participating in the 3 for $10 deal Zoya.com offered (did anyone else do it?), I rekindled my love for Zoya polish.

Happi is on the left and is a medium barbie pink with a yellow shift and a slight shimmer. Emme is a lighter pink with a slightly metallic finish. Both retail for $8 and are 3 free polishes. Wear on these is over a week for me with barely there tip wear.

This is a shot with flash of my nails painted with Happi and Emme on my ring finger so you can see them compared side-by-side.

The two polishes are great for anyone looking to add some staples to their collection. I rarely buy pinks but both of these are different enough to be interesting on the nail and get plenty of compliments. Emme has also been my pedicure all week and I am in love!

I am really in love with both of these polishes and Zoya in general right now. Happi ran a bit thick for me and Emme a little streaky, but nothing noticeable from far away. The pretty colors more than make up for it, as does the extremely long wear time.

Price: 9/10
Performance: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Packaging: 9/10
Overall Quality: 9/10

Total: 47/50 = A = Pandamonium!

Merry Christmas! Love. PrettyPanda

For whatever holiday you celebrate, happy holidays, Merry Christmas, season's greetings, epic festivus...etc. Enjoy!

Now before we all go jump in the snow (or in my case with the California weather) enjoy a light chill, here is my Christmas inspired manicure.

On my thumb: Glitter sandwich with a random mini OPI gold glitter and Metametics Honey You Should See Me in a Crown

On my pointer: One coat OPI The Spy Who Loved Me with candy cane stripes done with white acrylic paint.

On my middle finger: random mini OPI silver topped with Covergirl Gold Rush

On my ring finger: Sally Hansen Emerald City topped with Layla Ceramic Effect CE 55 (a mix of small and large gold hex glitter)

On my pinkie: Sally Hansen White On topped with Metametics Blood & Snow

I love how this turned out! Especially the candy cane nails and the Layla over the green. What a pretty gold!

Enjoy your holiday and if you did a cool holiday mani, let me know!

Essie 'First Base'

Base coats are essential to having a perfect looking mani. It is a shame I am just figuring this out. Being a college student on somewhat of a budget (although I buy too often and don't eat instead) I cut corners when it came to base coats. I would use old ones or none at all. So sad.

I perused different brands but decided on Essie's 'First Base' base coat. It is an adhesive base and was about $9.

I really wanted to try a rubber based one. It was between this and Orly's bonder. I have had good experiences with Essie before, so I thought I would give this brand another shot since I have neglected their polish recently.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this! It has increased my polish wear time by about 2 days on average and chipping starts much later on in the week, instead of around 3 days -- more like day 5. This helps to prevent yellowing as well and dries in seconds. That was one of my main concerns because I didn't want to wait around while a clear coat dried.

Final Thoughts: Looking for a nice, reliable base coat? Essie sealed the deal for me. A good investment.

Price: 9/10
Staying Power: 10/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: N/A
Quality/Branding: 10/10

Total: 39/40 = A+ = Pandamonium!

Have you tried this? Have any other ones you like? Let me know!
