Franken Fun: Must Be A Weasley and PineGalaxy Nail Decals

Hey Pandas! You may remember that a while ago, I started to do 'Franken Tuesdays' to show off my handmade Franken Polishes. But, now that I am not keen on keeping a schedule for that, and have my very own nail blog that will soon start to handle all of my nail posts (Impressionist Nails) I have decided to call these posts Franken Fun! and they will be showcased here and in detail on my nail blog. I am actually really excited about this franken, mostly because it is named after some of my favorite people in Harry Potter (and we all know how much I like Harry Potter...) 

 'Must Be A Weasley' was inspired by Draco Malfoy's famous line to Ron Weasley, but is a franken that sums up the entire family. You can see it on all of my fingers by the ring (which is Chanel Dragon). It is a jelly red/orange glitterbomb packed with gold, red, and orange glitter. Not only Gryffindor colors, but very 'ginger' as well! 

 

I think they would approve right?

 

And I do have to mention PineGalaxy's awesome nail decals over on Etsy. On my ring finger is a Gryffindor one, but next time I will use a lighter polish, although I like the tonal quality of it. Her nail decals are so awesome, and she has great customer service!!

Sneak Peek! Frankens!

I recently ordered a make-your-own frankens kit off of Etsy here. It came with 10 bottles with solvent and tons of glitter as well as funnels and little spoons. I set aside an afternoon to make them and I came up with 10 really fun glitter polishes. Once a week I will be showing you one of my creations as well as how you can make your own version.

Who knows, maybe I will open my own Etsy store one day!!

I am really happy with how they came out! Here are some swatches on a nail wheel of a few of them!

 

 

Sneak Peek! Frankens!

I recently ordered a make-your-own frankens kit off of Etsy here. It came with 10 bottles with solvent and tons of glitter as well as funnels and little spoons. I set aside an afternoon to make them and I came up with 10 really fun glitter polishes. Once a week I will be showing you one of my creations as well as how you can make your own version.

Different Dimension Polish

Indie polishes are ALL the rage right now...

 

I have bought my fair share of them. This post has been a long time in coming, as I have had it for a while but have been experimenting with it. It was something that grew on me over time and it is high time that you all see it!

 

 

 

Twelve Years in Azkaban is a custom glitter polish by Different Dimension. Currently she does not have custom listings anymore but her normal collections include themes such as Mean Girls, Pretty Little Liars, sports teams, Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, Big Bang Theory, and others. They are $8.50 each, which is a steal for this bottle that will last you forever! She has been featured in Nails Magazine and her polishes are 3 Free!

I messaged her wanting to create a polish based on Sirius Black from the Harry Potter series. She was very professional and messaged me pictures, working on my polish until I was satisfied. It has a clear base with very fine black bar glitter, small maroon glitter, small gold glitter, and medium sized green glitter. Perfect fit right?

I love her custom label as well! Shipping was fast and wear time is so long! I get compliments every time I wear it, and I know all of her other polishes have the same effect!

Here is a close up of all the pretty glitter. This is chock full! I can swipe it on, I don't have to dab, which is a huge plus!

 

Different Dimension polish is for anyone looking to try out the indie polish scene that wants reliability. You won't be disappointed with any of her polishes, and I truly believe she is one of the best at this price point on the market.

 

 

For this mani combination, I layered Twelve Years in Azkaban over Julep's Dendrie. I will not be doing a full review on this...but rather stick a mini one in right here! Beautiful grey creamy polish, rather watery but I find that helps the sheer/nearly jelly look of the outcome. Beautiful wear. Panda Approved!

 

 

I love Different Dimension polishes. I have others I need to review so look for more soon! I highly recommend checking out her Etsy shop, or if you want your own personalized franken, convo her!

Julep December Box!

I have been a Julep member since August now, and only skipped one box (last month, not a fan of suede's) and so far I have been pleasantly surprised. For $19.99 a month, you get a ton of product (these are $12-14 on their own) and the quality is great!

This month was no exception!

The box also came with peppermints, a fab inspirational Winston Churchill quote for the holiday, and an extra surprise!

 

 

In a darling black pouch, Julep included all the things to make your own nail polish jewelry! You may have noticed that nail polish jewelry is all the rage on Etsy, and I received a glass cabochon and a ring base.

As Julep suggested, I painted the flat part of the cabochon with a base coat, and then started to paint it with Harper. As you can see Harper is sheer and jelly-like, but very pretty as a layering polish.

 

 

I then added a coat of Vivien to give it a little pizazz. Then just stick the dry cabochon in the ring base, bend down the metal to hold it in, and you have custom jewelry!

 

 

Vivien and Harper are both layering glitters, but Ivy can hold her own as a polish. Here you can see the jelly finish in two coats with blue and purple glitter. One of the most unique polishes I own!

 

 

Here you can see more of the flash of purple in the bottle. Simply stunning. I love Julep. They are 3 free polishes in classy bottles that last 4-5 chip free days. Excellent.

My First Frankens!

Frankening polish is something that has become really big. Indie polish companies are springing up everywhere and I love them! I wanted to finally try my hand at frankening, so I bought the supplies and sat down this morning to give it a go.

Here is my first bottle. I basically bought so clear coat polish, dumped half of it out, added eye shadow pigment and lots of glitter. And I shook the bottle like a mad woman.

This combo was made with antique gold shadow, fine turquoise glitter, turquoise bar glitter, and large round gold glitter. Pretty right?

I'm actually really in love with this one. I have no clue what I am going to name it though. This is an example of a franken that I was just messing around with and it turned out amazing.

I was actually looking forward to the result of this franken more...

I wanted an inky base, so I added matte black shadow. I mixed in fine purple and lime glitter and some black bar glitter.

It looks pretty in the bottle, but the effect just didn't come out in the swatches as I hoped it would.

The black one just looks bumpy. The glitter doesn't show up at all...and I put A LOT in. The gold one has more of the effect I want, but after all, this was my first attempt.

Overall, a fun first attempt. When I get good, I want to open my own indie polish store on Etsy. I know I have a knack for fun color combos, but I just have to get the technique down.
