Easter Eyes with Stila!

 

Happy Easter if you celebrate! And just happy Spring in general! Today I did a fun eye look for brunch with my family that I wanted to share. I recently picked up two Stila Smudge Sticks at the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty event but they retail for $20 a piece regularly. I have one already in Mint Julep and I just love the formula. They are smooth and creamy but still last all day on my lids.

The shades I picked up are Gilded (a gold/bronze shimmer) and Violet, which is a true pink-toned purple. 

Violet is matte and it is creamy enough that any patchiness is easily fixed with a second layer. To me though, it glides on with full color in one swipe and wore all day (8 hours) on primed lids.

Gilded is a metallic liner and is really beautiful on. I can see myself reaching for this all the time come summer and this also wore well for 8 hours.

I am wearing Violet as a double line on my lid and Gilded on my lower lash line. I have not tested these on my waterline because I choose not to wear eyeliner there except on rare occasions, but these are waterproof, so I assume that means they should last at least a few hours on the waterline. 

I am also wearing NYX liquid black liner, Benefit Roller Lash mascara, and Colourpop eyeshadow in Tea Party.

Eye Looks with Coastal Scents Hot Pots

After testing for wear on all 12 colors, I created 4 eye looks with different colors from the hot pots I picked up.

The first look uses Canary Gold on the inner corner blended with Raisin Berry on the outer corner. I blended with Chamois Nude to highlight the middle of the eye.

This look lasted through an 8 hour workday in the current California heatwave with no issues. I did use UD primer.

This next eye look incorporates all of the blues. Please excuse my pinky allergy eyes---this photo was taken after a 10 hour work day! The inner corner is Gypsy Blue and then blended with Elven and Mazarine Blue.

To create this look I used Parisian Green in the crease and outer corner and St. Topaz in the inner corner and along my bottom lash line. Held up well for a full day, but as you can see the shadow migrated a bit on the lower lash line. 

This final look is a mixture of Bungalow Gold in the inner corner blended with Chocolate Cherry on the outer corner and blended with Victorian Pear with Flesh Tone to highlight. I liked wearing this look a lot and it held up for 11+ hours before I took it off.

Overall Verdict: I saw no wear issues with these particular Coastal Scents hot pots. Just use a good primer! I found that many of the colors will sheer out when you blend, so I like to keep layering and packing the color on with a denser eye brush and doing minimal blending. The golds did not have this problem.

The blues also tended to stain just a teeny tiny bit!

What shades you need:

Gypsy Blue: Really easy to work with and an easy to wear blue but still unique.

Chocolate Cherry: Much more pigmented than Raisin Berry

Flesh Tone: a wonderful highlight

Canary Gold: So vibrant and creamy

Parisian Green: Very very opaque!

Elven Blue and Mazarine Blue are colors I think you could find in better formulas in other brands. St. Topaz and Bungalow Gold, as well as Victorian Pear and Chamois Nude are very dupeable and Raisin Berry just isn't as impressive as the others. 

Eye Of The Day: Clinique Deep Dive

Hey everyone! For those of you interested in Clinique's Deep Dive shadow that I reviewed recently, or if you are unsure how to wear blue shadow and not make it look totally retro (and not in an ironic way), I did an eye look for you! 

 Besides the attack of the giant eye that has now occupied your screen...look at how pretty Deep Dive can be worn when lightly sheered out into the crease. It still packs a nice color punch though, and can be deepened with two layers or even more! What I used:Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eye Shadow Primer PotionClinique Deep Dive single shadowTarte Aqualillies Palette (lightest shade in inner corner)Urban Decay Sabbath Liquid LinerBenefit They're Real Mascara 

 

I am telling you, this look took very little time (about 5 minutes) to achieve, as even though Deep Dive is pigmented, it is forgiving. Try out a blue look for yourself, I would love to see it!

Look One "Classic": Satin Sheets, a peachy shimmer blended all over the eyelid. Sugar Walls in the outer corner and Garter Belt (a dark matte brown) in the crease. Finished with thick liner by NYX.

 

 

Look Two "The Natural Day Look": In the Buff blended all the way up to eyelid. Fuzzy Handcuffs washed gently over the lid. Voulez-Vous blended into crease. Thin liner and a light coat of mascara.

 

 

Look Three "Evening": Birthday Suit over lid. Lap Dance blended from middle of eye outwards. French Tickler blended into crease and towards lashline. Finished with thick, double winged liner.
