Rimmel Special Edition Kate Moss Gel Liner in Emerald

Hey friends!

This little pot of liner is something I have seen popping up in random places lately, but it isn't even on Ulta's website (I found it in an Ulta store)!

 

 The Rimmel ScandalEyes gel liners are part of the permanent range, but this Emerald shade is special edition and part of a Kate Moss release, so it has her signature on the top of the pot instead of a crown.

 

At $8 and 2.4g of product, price-wise this is great for a gel liner. It also comes with a small but very nice eyeliner brush. I was intrigued by the color more than anything because emerald is supposed to really make brown eyes pop!

 

In the pot, it almost looks like a matte emerald, but when swatched there is a bit of metallic sheen and some very small and sparse particles of green glitter. However, it translates as almost matte on the eye. 

 

Here you can see more of the difference between the two tones of the liner. The liner lasts 11 hours on my upper lash line and doesn't flake or smear. This is what I love about the product!

But the reason I am not jumping up and down?

 That pretty emerald doesn't translate well onto my lid. It looks like more of a forest green and the sparkles make it hard to apply and make even. As you can see, in trying to build up the color it got patchy in places. It is still workable with patience, but this won't be something I will reach for everyday because of that hassle. I still love the way it looks against my brown eyes, but I wish it had more of a wow factor.

Have you seen this? Will you be picking it up? With a coupon at CVS/Ulta/Walgreens it might be worth it for the staying power if you want to take the time to fiddle with it.

The Best Eye Shadow Palette of Spring/Summer 2013: Sonia Kashuk Eye On Glamour

Pandas, I have found my HG palette for all of my Spring and Summer color needs. This 12 shadow palette has every on-trend color this season and I am so in love with it!

 

 

 

This is the Sonia Kashuk Eye on Glamour Eye Couture Palette for Spring 2013. It includes 12 shadows in matte, glimmer, and frost (called Celestial formula I believe from the back of the compact). It comes in a very thin, classy black compact that flips open. This retails for $19.99 (yes, expensive but just you wait) and can be found at Targets (but hurry!)

 

 

This is truly gorgeous to look at. I was a little worried about the colors, because even in higher-end brand offerings, these colors can be sheer. This is my first time trying Sonia Kashuk eyeshadow.

 

 

 

Let the swatching begin! This is the first row (top) from left to right. I labeled the pictures but here is a little more in-depth description. These are not their actual names (they have no names)

 

Mint: This is really pigmented, and almost acts like a matte with very very fine overspray of glitter. I rather like the more matte look for this mint. It can also sort of lean into a pale, pastel green. Very opaque and pretty.

 

Metallic Copper: The middle row (going vertical in the palette) has the coolest texture, almost like a cream. And holy cow, just a little touch and these are full opacity and so creamy. I want them all! All! Super pretty burnt copper with a brown base.

 

Coral: Coral eye shadow is a must! This has a matte base with gold glitter sprinkled in, the perfect summer shadow.

 

 

Light Blue: This looks like a teal in the pan, but really swatches like a baby blue with matching glitter. Shimmery and gorgeous.

 

Copper: This again has that awesome creamy formula and is a true copper. So beautiful!

 

Emerald: The pantone color of the year right in this palette. True matte, not chalky, fully opaque. Great shade.

 

 

Periwinkle: How often do we see this shade? Never! And in matte? I hit the jackpot! This is absolutely lovely. Cannot rave enough.

 

Gold: This looks much more yellow in the palette but swatches as a creamy shimmer with almost a silver tone, very metallic and hot for summer.

 

Violet: This has that same matte base but with purple and silver very fine glitter. A very pretty red/purple.

 

 

Lilac: This is a gorgeous shade because it has a blue shift to it. Wow, can I be any more in love?

 

Silver: Your typical silver, feels like a cream shadow as well and applies as one.

 

Cream: This is an off white shimmer, a little chalky. Probably my least favorite shade in the palette, but that is not much of a loss.

 

Honestly? Everyone. But if you are looking for something of great quality to fit your color needs for this season, look no further! Seriously.

 

This Sonia Kashuk palette seemed a bit hard to swallow when I first picked it up for $20 at Target, but since swatching and playing around with this, I am so impressed with the formulas, mixture of textures, and quality of these shadows. I would not hesitate to buy a back up if I see it again. I love it that much.

Face and Outfit of the Day!

Today is really important. Firstly, because it is my first day experimenting with makeup and my new red hair. Secondly, it is Gary Oldman's birthday...my ultimate British celeb crush and genuinely awesome guy. So, here is my OOTD and FOTD to celebrate!

Here is your cheat sheet for my look today.

1) Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup in Shade 01 (N). $26. I patted this all over my face and pressed it in with warm fingers. The consistency is drier, so this method works for me.

2) NYX Are You DepEYEved Mascara $8 and NYX Natural Palette $7. I used the lightest shade in the palette all over my eye and contoured with the middle tan shade and the light grey shade. One coat of mascara on my top and bottom lashes.

3) M.A.C. Pearl Blossom Beauty Powder from the Barbie collection (oldie but goodie, shopping the stash here).

4) Revlon PhotoReady pressed translucent powder in shade 001. $8. I blotted this with a big kabuki brush all over my face to set foundation and blush.

5) Neutrogena Skinclearing Blemish Concealer in Fair. $7. I dotted this on two trouble spots and blotted again with the powder.

6) To conceal my dark circles I used Clinique All About Eyes concealer in 01 Light Neutral (the match for my foundation although it does pull more yellow) $16. I used a concealer brush to pat this under my eyes.

7) Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser $10 went on top of the concealer to airbrush and add the protective benefits and the Vitamin C to keep my eyes looking bright all day.

8) Babylips Peach Kiss to balance out my look with nude/peach hydration.

9) The final step was lining my eyes with Sephora Flashy Liner in Flashy Ultra Green. $12. Pantone's shade of the year--emerald! I think it goes well with the red hair and doesn't make me look like too much of a leprechaun!

 

Just a light, thick line on my upper lid with a very small wing-out did the trick!
