Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded

Hey Pandas!

 

Summer is fast approaching and I know all of us are looking for summer staples as far as cosmetics go to get us through hot days and fun summer nights. After testing out a perfect nude Color Tattoo shade, I have to say that this will follow me to my upcoming trip to Hawaii and beyond.

 

This is Maybelline's Color Tattoo Metal 24 hour eyeshadow in Barely Branded. This is a warm, nude shade with a metallic finish. You can find them at Ulta and drugstores for $6.99.

 

 

This shadow is for anyone that wants a cheaper dupe for a MAC paint pot, a stay all day nude shadow, or a nude base for other shadows. With a good primer and proper application, this lasts about 10 hours on my lids alone. Some minor creasing happens but with some smoothing, it is fine again. When used as a base and set with other shadow, this lasted about 17 hours on me...and through a crazy, sweaty Franz Ferdinand concert (which was amazing btw, do any of you listen to them?). I have to say, concerts are a true test for wear for me, as I dance like crazy!

 

 

This does have a very strong metallic finish if you apply it heavily. This particular Color Tattoo has a lot of slip and is very emollient, which makes it easy to apply. It can be applied in a sheerer wash of color which I think is easier and more flattering (bottom swatch).

 

 

Excuse my no make-up otherwise eyes, but this is a sheer wash of the shadow on my bare lid. It is easy and gives you a pretty, awake look that is fresh for summer. Seriously, this is no fuss. Apply with a finger or a cream shadow brush and you are out the door! Love it!

FOTD: Going-Out Eyes

This is just a quick post showing you a look I created for my friend's birthday party. We went to a local piano bar and dressed up. I wanted to have an eye look that was fun for an all-girl outing.

This was just make-up, before I did my hair and all that, so excuse that. I wanted to do a darker eye and keep my face pretty simple.

What I Used:

Face: Bare Minerals foundation in Fairly Light

Cheeks: Wet n Wild blush in Mellow Wine

Lips: Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched

Eyes: Katy Perry false lashes in 'Oh, Honey!'
          Color Tattoo shadow in Audacious Asphalt
          Blended with Rimmel London Glam'eyes HD in Black Cab
          Mally Mascara in Black
          NYX noir eye liner in black

It was pretty easy to do, and I had a fab time that night. Any questions on the look, just ask!

For Your Zombie Survival Pack...

I know these are old news, but I just got my hands on one. I was looking for a black cream shadow for going out looks, so I wanted to finally try one of Maybelline's Color Tattoo shadows.

I am not a huge fan of Maybelline, but I still had a hard time finding a good black cream anywhere else. (NYX was out at the moment of their black jumbo pencil) so into my hands this fell.

This is just over $6 for a pretty large pot of glittery black/grey cream shadow. I love the name -- Audacious Asphalt. I apologize for my obnoxious Avengers font. I love it, and if this truly does last 24 hours, then Black Widow could rock it right?

Well...sadly this wasn't the DARK black I wanted, but it is still pretty. It sets fast and has a lot of fun glitter. It truly is an 'Asphalt' color. Wow, read the label Margo... obviously.

I tested this baby out. I needed to know if it was super-hero worthy. It fell just short. It started dissapearing on my lids at the 18 hour mark. Sadness :(

Don't get me wrong, that is amazing wear with no primer, but not the 24 hour 'tattoo claim'. Hmm.

Final Thoughts: Nice color, and this could easily go in your end of the world zombie apocalypse bag. It will be going in mind.
