NYX Butter Lipstick in Cotton Candy: Thoughts, Review, and Swatches

Many of you have seen teaser pics of my haul including one of the brand new NYX Butter Lipsticks and the review is finally here!
I have been a fan of NYX's Butter glosses, so the thought of a similar lipstick intrigued me. There is a wide range of colors, but I went against my normal shopping habits and picked out a very light pink.
With 22 shades to choose from at $5.99 there is sure to be something to please everyone. I found this at Ulta, but the displays are already running dry! And they also don't have all the colors.
NYX BUTTER LIPSTICK

The packaging of these lipsticks is cuter than their regular matte lipsticks (which have the same packaging in black), but they still look a tad little-girlish and cheap. However, the color makes it easy to find in your stash.

The smell of these is slightly sweet and a bit artificial, but you really have to sniff them to pick up on that. The formula of these is actually really nice. These are buttery and glide onto the lips well, providing a nice opacity of coverage.

Cotton Candy is a very very light baby pink, so be aware of that, since it looks much darker than it appears on the lips. For this color, prep lips well. Other, darker colors in this line seem to be much more swipe and go.

Cotton Candy gives my pout a very springy and mod vibe. Butter Lipsticks are comfortable to wear, but only last me about 2 and a half hours. I just find them a little too light to really stick around, but I've never been one to mind reapplying a lip product on normal, non special event days.

Keep in mind, this wear time may only be for the lighter colors. I am hoping to pick up a darker shade to compare.

Overall, I think NYX Butter Lipsticks are a great product at a nice price point and I have been reaching for Cotton Candy often since I have picked it up!

Have you tried any of the NYX Butter Lipsticks? Thoughts?

O.P.I Pussy Galore from the Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection

I love James Bond, and of course, along with 007 comes his Bond Girls. I think O.P.I seriously cashed in with this idea, considering how well the Bond collection did in the Fall (I hauled so many of those!) But this time around, only one...Pussy Galore, the light pink babe of the collection.

I am still on the fence about Liquid Sand. I loved the Mariah Carey polishes, but the OZ colors fell a little flat for me. I think in this kind of texture, the color is everything. Pussy Galore ($8.50) is really unique and the baby pink with the silver and pink sand/glitter is just stunning!

This is two easy coats with the lovely pro-wide brush. Lasts about a week solid (liquid sands are SO durable) and dries super fast. I have no qualms with the formula. And I love this color!

Overall, although I only found one Bond Girl that stole my heart, I think this collection is fascinating. If you want to see more swatches of this beauty, I started a nails only blog (so nail posts here will slowly start to disappear). Visit Impressionist Nails! I appreciate your support!

L'Oreal Color Riche Balms from the Versailles Romance Collection

As you may have heard from my Panda-monium Monday post, I was really excited for the L'Oreal Versailles Romance collection for Spring 2013. When I saw the set-up, I had to pick up some of the Color Riche balms and some nail polishes (post coming soon!)

I know everyone is buzzing about that blue. I KNEW it would be a flop, but you know what? I bought it anyway! The blue is called Sundays by the Seine and the pink is Come by My Window. Both are so pretty and pastel-y in the tube, and of course the fancy Color Riche tube is luxe in itself, very worthy of Marie Antoinette and Versailles. These retail for around $8 each.

They are truly very pretty and would be conversation pieces when pulled out of a purse. Or really cute for a "Is it a boy or girl?" baby shower as favors. Am I right?

Yeah, thats about all these are good for...

The blue is swatched on the right, the pink on the left. As I expected, the blue is just a clear balm. The pink is very sheer and baby pink, but neither showed up on my lips other than a shiny slick of balm. Meh.

Here you can see the pink a bit better in flash, but the blue is pretty invisible.

All in all, good formula as expected of the Color Riche balms, pretty packaging, and cute concept, but there are cheaper balm alternatives. I won't be purchasing more, but I will leave the decision up to you.

Have you tried this? Love or hate?
