I Want To Look Like: Narcissa Malfoy

Hey everyone!I honestly couldn't be more excited for this post. It is going to be a long one, and picture heavy, but hopefully really fun! The 'I Want To Look Like' series will be ongoing, and is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I will be getting inspiration from characters in movies/tv shows/actors/ads/etc, and of course...any suggestions you have! Each post will include the original look, and a look modified for daytime wear. I will also include all the products used, and there will be posts on my two other blogs, Miss Molotov and Impressionist Nails to help round out the look.Let's get started!

For my inaugural post, I chose Narcissa Malfoy. Being a huge Harry Potter fan (and nerd in general), she is someone I have always loved. Her style progresses throughout the films (sadly mentioned next to no times in the books), from very classic and stuffy to darker and more natural. These looks aren't a complete copy of her makeup, but are inspired by her.

I also had a ton of fun with photoshop and being a geek with this in general. It was fun trying to get that 'Malfoy' attitude while posing. I don't have half-blonde hair though, but we will have to make do. And Helen McCrory is flawless.Both of my looks started with the same base products:

1: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk: Used as a base/primer on eyes.

2. Clinique Even Better Foundation in Alabastor: My base of choice right now.

3. Cocoa Star Too Faced Shadow from the Natural at Night Palette: Used to fill in brows. Heavy in the first look and lighter in the secocnd.

4. Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer in Fair: Under eye

5. NYX Liquid Black Liner: A larger wing on the first look, and simpler on the second.

6. Benefit They're Real Mascara

Here is the first look---full on Narcissa glam.

For the full look, I used the products below:

1. bareMinerals loose shadow in Treasured Terri: Foiled and used on whole eye.

2. NYX single eye shadow in Exotic Green: used in crease

3. Mally Ever Color Automatic Eyeliner in Fierce Forest: used on bottom lash line.

4. Essence Renesmee Red blush: No longer available, but any red blush will do.

5. Essence Bella's Secret: for highlight.

6. NYX Retractable Waterproof liner in Red: line lips

7. Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in F-Bomb: Fill in lips with the perfect Narcissa-red.

8. bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie gloss in Game Changer: a dab on the middle of the lower lip.

This look was so fun to do, but now, let's lighten it up for everyday wear!

For the softer version, I used the following products:

1. Clinique All About Shadow Quad in On Safari: used the cream as highlight, olive on the whole lid, and forest green on the crease.

2. Milani Baked Blush in Red Vino: a little on the cheeks gives a strong blush and highlight.

3. Sephora Flashy Liner in Flashy Ultra Green: on lower lash line.

4. NYX Butter Lip Balm in Red Velvet.

I had fun playing with all of my green shadows, and a ton of fun doing this in general!

Great Gatsby Look Book: Jordan Baker

Hi Pandas! Welcome to the second installment of my Great Gatsby makeup looks, where I am taking looks from the 2013 film based off the book, and making them just a little bit easier to wear. This post centers on the lively Jordan Baker 

 While Daisy's look is a classic spin on something natural, Jordan had the darkest eye makeup in the movie, which was fun to play around with. 

 

Her look is mostly metallic smoky eyes, some blush, and a berry lip. Simple, but pretty.

 

 

Altogether, this look took me under 10 minutes, and keep in mind that I don't have her gorgeous 20's bob, but the makeup can look equally awesome on anyone.

 

The Products:

 

 

1. The eye look was made entirely with the Khroma Beauty Kim's Kardazzle Palette. I used the black matte shade, the metallic silver, and the metallic white, blended together.

2. To add some color to my cheeks, I brushed on a very light layer of Milani Baked Blush in Red Vino.

3. Jordan's lashes are so fluttery, so I added some falsies. Katy Perry Lashes by Eyelure in Darling were perfect!

4. For the berry lips, I swiped on Tarte Lipsurgence in Pouty, a sparkling raspberry.

 

 

This look can easily be created with your own products, and falsies are optional if you do not have the time nor patience!

 

 

Here are two close ups of the eyes. You can blend the smoky eye in whatever way you want, but I chose a wash of metallic color and a little crease definition. I would also suggest liner, even though I have none on.

 

 

I think this is a perfect easy-going night out look. Just use your favorite foundation under it all and you are good to go! A grey smoky eye and a berry lip are also easier to pull off than harsh black and a red lip.

 

 

 And of course, the black and white, trying to be from the 20's picture!

Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Black Cherry: Swatches and Review

Hi Pretty Pandas! Milani Color Statement Lipsticks are all the rage right now because they come in a wide range of colors, are cheap at $5.49 a pop, and wear well. I decided to go adventurous and pick up one of the darkest shades! 

 Milani Black Cherry looks like a blackened purple in the tube, but don't let the color of the bullet put you off. This is a pretty, deep raspberry shade that is perfect for a glamorous going out look. There is no taste to this lipstick and a very faint sugary smell. It lasts about 3 hours if you prep well. I suspect it would be longer with a lip liner. 

 

The most interesting thing about this lipstick is how it creates ombre lips without any fuss. Literally one swipe of this and a smush of your lips together and you get this pretty look. Layering the lipstick will further result in true to swatch lips.

 

This is a better example of a little deeper look I achieved with the lipstick. Because the lipstick is so hydrating and a little slippery, the graduated effect almost comes naturally, and I would suggest a lip liner because you can see it feathers ever so slightly (or use a lip brush for more precise application.

 

All in all I feel very vampy when I where this, and I love the look I can get without any crazy mixing or ombre tutorials, which was a hidden surprise. I am happy with my purchase, but I would look carefully for a Color Statement that suits you, as this one might be a bit daunting for some.

My New Hair! And a FOTD with NYX

Well guys, PrettyPanda went red!

 

It is my favorite color and my hair has been untouched all my life. I finally took the dive today and started with a red tint with brighter permanent red highlights. I am so happy!

 

As you can tell, not drastic red, but red. It is more noticeable in daylight as well. I also cut off 4 inches! I needed a change!

 

I really like it, and of course my eyebrows are dyed to match so ignore their largeness. That is mostly the tint still sticking to my skin. If you are a redhead, I need eyebrow pencil suggestions STAT!

 

Now, for this FOTD.

 

Face: Milani Red Vino Blush

Eyes: Two Faced Boudoir Eyes

Lips: NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in La~La~

 

So...about this gloss...

 

 

La~La~is a coral pink gloss (it appears more bubblegum here, but is a bit warmer) that retails for $5 and is in a long tube with a bow on the top of the wand. The applicator is a long sponge tip that is angled.

 

 

This gloss smells yummy! Like Starbursts candy and has a sheer, glossy finish. I wouldn't say Mega Shine, like the tube say, though. Decently glossy, but nothing special.

 

 

Overall a nice gloss. It feels like a second lip and wears comfortably for about 2 hours. A good everyday gloss, but there are plenty of other options out there.
