Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over! Hydrating Gel Moisturizer: Review

With each passing day, I become more and more obsessed with skin care. I have a Clinique regimen that works well, but I needed a couple of extras, so I checked out {Dew Over!} from the Olay Fresh Effects line. I loved their Long Live Moisture lotion but ran out of it. Honestly, I was looking for a neck cream, and this was marked specifically for face and neck, while others weren't. But does that even matter? Who knows... Anyway, I don't need a heavy lifting or sculpting neck cream at 23, but I wanted something that would moisturize.

Olay has really nailed their young-fresh-teen/early 20's target market with this line. The packaging is cool and the products that I have tried work well for my skin needs.

{Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer retails for $12.99, but those handy $3.50 off Ulta coupons brought this down to under $10, which is a more reasonable price for what I wanted this for.

So, {Dew Over!} claims to give 24 hour hydration---well, I wouldn't go that far. When I used it on face and neck I felt comfortable for about 15 hours, then parts of my face (outer cheeks, around the nose) got a bit dry. But at that point I am getting ready for bed. Really, I hate the whole 24 hour marketing ploy...no one stays awake that long except in zombie apocalypses/movies/both at the same time. I have combo/dry skin that is blemish prone.

This also claims to be oil free and not clog pores---I agree with this, so far, so good. No breakouts from use.

It is formulated with powder to keep oil at bay and leave a breathable finish----am I less oily?, not so much. To me, this is a pretty heavy moisturizer, so I like to use it on only my neck and only at night after the testing rounds. It was a bit too much for my face---couldn't fully quench the dry parts for the whole day (as I said, around the 15 hour mark) but made my oily bits need blotting. However, the point with this is to have dewy, glowy skin, which this provides.

Confused yet? Well, this is a confusing product, which is why it is just okay overall...trying to excel at too much...read on...

This is a little pot of blue tinted cream and it has a strong smell, which is why I have settled to only use it on my neck. It works wonderfully there, rubbed into my upper shoulders and chest when it gets hot (and it is getting hot already in Cali!) and it leaves me feeling refreshed. I like the smell, but it is a bit too much to put on my face, granted I am sensitive to some scents near my eyes.

The scent is honeysuckle and white tea, which is yummy, but is very overwhelming to me. Try and sniff this if you can before you buy!

This sinks into skin rapidly, which I really like. And a little goes a long way!

Water and glycerin are the first two ingredients in this, so I do like that this is water based, but it has some 'cones. However, after a few days of use on my face, I did not experience a breakout (and usually one would occur within the same day).

Overall, I like {Dew Over!} for a quick, refreshing neck cream that will keep me moisturized. It is half the purpose, but not the whole purpose, so I only recommend this if you are looking for a simple neck cream. As a face cream, the scent is too strong for me to wear it, but try it for yourself! That is why this product is only meh for me. I will use it up, but I won't repurchase.

Newly Reformulated Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

I have started to get more into skincare lately, and sometimes my normal moisturizer (Josie Maran) is a bit too heavy for daytime.

I used to HATE Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer. It did bizarre things to my skin. But now that they have a new, reformulated product and a gel as well, I thought I would try again.

And I am so glad I did!

I recently talked to a Clinique SA and she said that the gel is much better for oily/combo skin types such as mine and the new version doesn't have the lipids that my skin previously reacted badly to.

The formula is basically weightless on my skin and absorbs right away. The amount on my hand above is all I use for my whole face and I bring it down my neck. In the two weeks that I have been testing it, I have had no negative reaction, my skin is much less dry, and my texture seems to have improved (which is what Dramatically Different ultimately claims).

I apply this in the morning and sometimes at night. These 1.7oz tubes are $15 but they will last you at least a few months!

What are your experiences with Dramatically Different?

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40 Review

Even though I am only in my early 20's, I have learned that good skincare is worth every penny. Although I am not ready to invest in $300 eye cream just yet, I am loving Josie Maran's products because of their natural ingredients and because Argan oil does wonders for my acne-prone skin.

The Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer with Natural Broad Spectrum SPF 40 ($35) is a great daily moisturizer and skincare all in one, without any greasiness or odd smells typically associated with that high of a sunscreen.

This is marketed for all skin types and has Argan, Apricot, Jojoba, and Pomegranate oil along with Chamomile and Green Tea Extract and Aloe. So many good-for-you ingredients along with no parabens or synthetics and is vegan and cruelty free.

This is pump-style application and although is comes out white and a little watery, it does not leave a white cast on the skin, photographs just fine, and sinks into skin quickly. My only qualm with it is that I wish it were a bit easier to distribute all over my face, because the argan oil sucks into your skin so quickly (at least on my face). That isn't a deal breaker though, because you don't need a thick layer of this to get all of the benefits. Also, this may be common knowledge, but I tend to rub my eyes from allergies---don't do it with this! It will transfer from your face into your eyes and burn like sunscreen. Which is obvious, I know. So now I have to kick my habit of touching my face. But for this product, I think I can.

I really love this moisturizer and I highly recommend it, especially for oily skin because argan oil does wonders to regulate that oil production and doesn't irritate acne.

Olay Fresh Effects Long Live Moisture Satin Finish Lotion

Hi Pandas! Just because it is summer time, it doesn't mean that you don't still need moisturizer!

Even though all skin types are prone to oily-ness in hotter months, the more you deprive your skin of moisture, the more oil they create to compensate!

Olay recently launched some new skin care that has fun, bright packaging that I assume is supposed to attract and cater to the 20-something set. Well, it worked. I bought it!

Long Live Moisture is a satin finish moisturizer that comes in a long, skinny pump tube. I had no problems with the packaging, and it is even cute enough to leave out on a vanity. This is a hybrid lotion/gel and is oil-free and non-comedogenic.

I actually really like the texture. It spreads easily and feels weightless. The satin finish doesn't bother me either, as I put makeup on over it, so any shine will be covered.

It soaks into skin very fast, leaves a healthy sheen and has a very light scent that disappears after a few seconds and doesn't bother my super sensitive nose. I am glad Olay didn't give this a laundry list of things to do, as it is just a simple moisturizer. It is cute, it is fairly reasonable at about $10, and it moisturizes my oily/combo skin well, doesn't pill, and makes my complexion look better. I have been using this for a few weeks now with no negative side-effects and better looking skin!

All in all, I am intrigued by this new Fresh Effects line. Have you tried it?
