Revlon Chroma Chameleon Nail Polish in Cobalt.

Hi Pandas! Back with another polish for you!


 
This is one of the new Revlon Chroma Chameleon polishes in the shade Cobalt. It is supposed to have a duochrome shift, hence the name, and is released just in time for summer.

 
Here is the polish in normal lighting. It doesn't have much of a shift at all, so fans of that will be majorly disappointed in this color. There are a few other colors that look like they have more of the effect, but I really wanted this color blue so I didn't care if there was a shift or not.
 
 
With a flash or in sunlight, this shade is much more exciting. It has a littler smattering of glass flecks and is very pretty and vibrant. This has a slight metallic finish so be aware of streaking--but it went on nicely in two coats. This didn't chip for 5 days but had major tip wear after day one.
 
 
Check out the display next time you are in Ulta or the drugstore, these retail for around $6, but are cool to add to your polish collection if you do not have anything similar. I like the color, but I don't buy the gimmick, do you?

ORLY Flicker: Perfect October Orange

Hey everyone!!

Sorry for my long absence! I have been really busy settling down in my grad school life (phew!) but I am back now and ready to blog with some fun products for Fall and Winter. Yay!
 
As you can probably tell, I am big on nail polish, and I do not have many orange polishes in my current collection.
 
Orly recently released a Fall collection and I decided to add the pretty red-orange 'Flicker' to my stash for $8.

 
This is a shiny, metallic, slightly duochrome polish that looks just like a flickering flame!
 
 
Two coats and this baby has a lot of depth and looks great for Halloween time!
 
 
This lasted about 5 days with minor tip wear and looks good as a base for black glitter as well!
 
 
Overall Thoughts: A great wearable orange just in time for All-Hallows-Eve!
 
Price: 8/10
Staying Power: 8.5/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10
 
Total: 45.5/50 = A- = Happy Panda!

Chic Reloaded

I know my blog has been my polish lately, but since I have started graduate school as of today, polish posts are easy to fit in my schedule for the time being!

And besides, there is a lot of buzz about Essence polishes, and I found a shade that has gotten a lot of love, but not nearly enough yet!

 
This is Essence 'Chic Reloaded' and retails for $1.99. I love Essence as a brand, they are affordable and good quality. The nail polish bottles have had a massive make-over, turning from little cylinders to these hourglass bottles with colored tops. I love it -- now you can spot them easily in your stash!

 
This is such a fun color for fall. It is a dark purple/teal duochrome and the shift is fairly noticeable, especially in sunlight. The new brushes on these are kind of awful...they remind me of the Sally Hansen salon ones...they are big and rounded and are supposed to cover the whole nail in one sweep...but I have thin nail beds which equals mess!


So pretty! It also has a bit of a shimmer to it! The formula is nice, not too thick or thin and in two coats it has the desired effect. No chips after a few days, but tip wear (seen here) after three days. Not bad, not good.

Final Thoughts: Affordable, unique duochrome!

Color/Wearability: 10/10
Quality/Branding: 9/10
 
Total: 46/50 = A- = Happy Panda!

And the Legend Comes to an End...

Hey lovelies!

Well, today marks my last bit about the little Essence collection I've been reviewing. I am wrapping it up with an interesting lipstick.

This is the 'Legends of the Sky' lipstick in 02 Flying Higher. It is a creamy white base with purple and pink shimmer. It retails for $1.99. When I saw it at the store, my mind went "White lipstick? You know this is going to look gross right Margo? Oh well" and I bought it anyway.
The packaging is gorgeous. It comes in a little copper bullet and it honestly looks like a gun shell casing. I am sure there is a simpler way to describe that, but that will have to do.


This was so hard to photograph! It looks like concealer on my arm. I was not impressed right away.

Um...yeah. About that. I think Essence had good intentions with this lipstick. It could be a shimmery, highlighty awesome stick of awesome. But instead, it clumps and settles into all of my dry bits and makes me look goopy.

This may work for you if you want to spend a half hour scrubbing all of the flakies off of your lips, but I do not have time for a colorless high-maintenance lip stick.

Staying Power: 6/10
Packaging: 10/10
Color/Wearability: 2/10
Quality/Branding: 7/10

Total: 35 = C = Panda is Meh.

Would you give this a go? The collection has a bronze lipstick that in hind-sight I should have gotten instead, but this oddball color had me wondering!

ORLY Opal Hope Review

Hey Pandas!

I came across this polish, and found it so unique that I just HAD to have it. You know the feeling right?

This is ORLY "Opal Hope" and it is a true pink/green duochrome. It has a slightly metallic finish and is very sheer.


Here I took a picture of the bottle with a flash, so you can see the sheen of it. I used 3 coats on my nails, and the nail line was still visible.


With a flash you can see the green sheen that comes out of the pink. In natural light it is apparent as well, but in a more casual, "glowy" way. So pretty and unique.
